Who We Are

Aristoi Media is a visual communications production company specializing in sophisticated, impactful, and cinematic portraits. Serving all of North America and beyond we bring a global perspective to local stories, whether intended for theatrical release, news broadcast, or online distribution. With a broad network of media and marketing professionals we are able to assemble experienced crews ranging from one to ten people, all while delivering on budget, on time, and consistently performing above our weight class.

Our mission is to connect you with your audience by developing your own authentic voice. It is our belief that people respond to stories which are told with sincerity, originality, and insight—and it is our conviction that how you choose to communicate can make or break public trust; it can build public support, or destroy it. A Note From the Founder

“Apathy and indifference; ignorance and misunderstanding. The gravest problems in our world stem from these two root causes; but more than any other medium of communication a thoughtful narrative has the power to transform them—to take our apathy and make us care, to unravel our ignorance and help us understand. More than an essay, tutorial, or polemic, a story can nurture the greatest driver for change and human advancement that we have: Empathy.

Whether you are a company, an individual, or an organization, we all face this same basic challenge: the public doesn’t yet know our mission, or worse, they don’t care. It is not enough to broadcast the same old tired platitudes, lest we merely add to the noise—it is not enough to shout, use flowery language, or post beautiful images—indeed it is not enough to simply have great ideas and assume that people will want to listen.

To tell our stories we must endeavor to know our audience and strive to understand what they need and want—to understand how we might ease their suffering, how we might inspire them to greatness, how we might form more resilient and lasting social bonds. Effective communication is the hallmark of strong leadership—whether it is in business or in our communities—and to be effective it must be driven by a sense of purpose.”

About the Founder

As a director, DP, steadicam operator, and FAA Part 107 licensed drone operator Ian Van Alan is experienced in both documentary filmmaking and branded content creation, having worked with many of the nation’s leading brands and broadcasters.

In 2018 he founded Aristoi Media with the goal of advancing America’s best democratic and egalitarian ideals. Serving the core mission of improving our national conversation Aristoi Media strives to create the very finest in premium content while nurturing our shared sense of aspiration, responsibility, and togetherness.

Ian’s most significant storytelling influences span literature, poetry, fashion, music, theater, and cinema. His guiding principles are integrity, humility, patience, and service.
